Making it up as I go

I've been working on this stole on and off for many months, using the laceweight merino/silk/bamboo I spun from Juliespins batts. I'd wanted to knit the Sampler Stole from A Gathering of Lace, but wanted to knit a different center.

So I decided to use the alternate center pattern from Sharon Miller's Wedding Ring Shawl instead.

The borders are knit pretty much as given. But I haven't decided what edging to use yet....
Current spinning:

Soft and fluffy natural-colored 50/50 camel/silk fiber from Spunky Eclectic on my seemingly jet-propelled Golding Fleur spindle. It should make a fine and shiny laceweight.
And, finally, my public service announcement for the day: Susanna Lewis' Knitting Lace is being reprinted next month. One less thing to stalk eBay for!

Gorgeous! I love the way the alternate center pattern looks with the borders. And that camel/silk looks like spun gold - beautiful!

Love the shawl.... when I get my current batch of 'special present shawls' done and hopefully my eye is in for spinning fine laceweight I fancy a go at the Sampler shawl - for ME!!! it looks lovely.... I like the colour too...
The spinning is a beautiful as ever... what do you think of the blend? my spindle spinning is improving!

That is awesome! I'm also amazed that the large cop of spun yarn on the spindle doesn't cause the thread to break, but I guess the silk is quite strong. Great stole!

You are super talented. All these blogs with stupendous handspun laceweight are really working against my resolve to hold off learning to spin for now.
And thanks for the reminder about the book - someone at my LYS mentioned it & I forgot to put it in the calendar!

I love your version of this stole and your yarn is just fabulous. As usual, your work is impeccable :-) I have one of the original "Knitting Lace" books and you will not be sorry to buy that one. It's really informative.
