Spinning plus

No updates on the Rosemary Shawl this week, but I do have spinning!
Pictured above is laceweight yarn spindle-spun from various batts. From left, Squoosh batt (merino, firestar, bamboo), Juliespins batt in Walnut (merino, silk, bamboo), Abby batt in Devon Cream (organic merino, silk, cashmere), Enchanted Knoll Farm batt in Queen Mermaid (superwash merino, sari silk, firestar). All of these were spun on roughly 0.5 oz spindles and plied on my Tracy Eichheim spider spindle:

(Also an Enchanted Knoll Farm batt, this one in Dragon's Blood.) For my spindle-spun yarns, I spin two equal amounts of fiber and transfer the singles to toilet paper rolls. Then I wind the two singles together on my ball winder and ply from that. No pesky tangles!
And some random tatting. No idea what I will do with this. It's kind of fun to work on for about 20 minutes at a time. Knitting is better, though. :)

That tatting is amazing, as is your spinning. So even and soft!

Did nothing else interesting happen to you? I thought I heard you say something about a bug, but I can't recall what. I must INSIST that you post about it.

The spinning looks lovely! I like the tatted flowers and the green thread you are using.

Oh, toilet paper rolls... what a great idea... I am just starting to spin and though I searched for some idea where to put the singles, my brain blocked and I eneded up untagling the singles for hours (what a feat that is with kinky fresh singles...)
Those yarns look so beautiful... how long did it take you to learn spinning with spindles so well??

You keep making me want to get used to using a spindle! but I love my wheel too much....
Your spindle spinning is amazing, your yarns you've produced are 'yarn porn'.. you going to do a you tube video so I can even get to like my spindle ;o)

I was wondering if some tatting would appear!
I'm going to officially stop feeling guilty for only wanting to spin laceweight yarns. Done.
Your yarns are lovely, and there is a large part of me that really wishes I could get into spinning on a spindle. I may have to order one small enough for laceweight and then see what happens!

Lovely spinning (and plying), and the tatting project you're working on is beautiful! (also, great tip for preparing spindle-spun singles to ply)

Yeah, I have lots of little tatted thingies like that hanging out at my place too. Pretty, but not as useful as my lace knitting. Tatting is more portable though :-)

Just when I thought I'd averted the desire to spin (not having the funds at the moment for a wheel), I discover your beautiful yarn spun on a spindle. I am impressed and inspired.
