Glacier Lake

While I wait for my completed (!) Icarus to dry, I offer you some photos of the project that resulted from my first sparkly batt.

This is where my sparkly fixation all started--the batt is called Glacier Lake and comes from the fabulous Butterfly Girl Designs Etsy shop. It's a 70% superwash merino, 20% bamboo, 10% nylon firestar blend with a bit of angelina thrown in.

Spun on my beloved Bosworth midi spindle, the yarn ended up somewhere between a heavy laceweight and a light fingering weight. I'm not a bamboo spinning convert yet--I thought it was a bit tricky--but I'll give it another try eventually.

And then I made up a simple scarf pattern using a motif from the Estonian lace knitting book Pitsilised Koekirjad. Shiny!

It is beautiful! The spinning looks great, especially for being tricky.

That is spectacular. I love the color combination of the batts. You did a great spindling job. The pattern is very complimentary to the handspun. Congrats on such a wonderful sheep to scarf.

Sometimes simple things are the most beautiful... and this is definitely one of those times. :-)

It must be a beautiful book, because I keep seeing the most amazing things made from it.
the glare on that yarn is just fabulous!
Good combination of the yarn and the pattern. Wonderful.

Your lace knitting always amazes me, by how even your yarnovers are. The sparkly handspun is also glorious. It's hard to believe that you managed to create such a beautiful yarn on a spindle, even if it was a Bosworth!

Beautiful scarf and beautiful yarn. I know what you mean about bamboo though. It's very slippery.
