A sheep named Roger

rogerfluff.jpg

Way back when, at the Connecticut Sheep and Wool Festival, I bought a pound or so of Shetland fluff to play with.

I've spun up a bit of laceweight, and am testing the waters of another Gladys Amedro shawl.

It's a bit hairy, though--so I'm not sure this is the yarn's ultimate fate. Or if I want to commit to spinning this much cream-colored laceweight all at once. Maybe I should concentrate on one monster project at a time (yes, I'm looking at you, Princess).

Roger is beautiful! I'm with you on monster projects. I am hesitant to start Princess until I psych myself up for it.

ah yes, end of semester and monster projects...know the feeling well, my spring shawl is about to come out of hibernation itself. Do love the creamy color and the shine that Roger's fleece and yarn has in the pictures!

Nice to 'hear' from you have missed your posts... Roger is nice.. and the 1lb of fluff looks great, I've half a Romney fleece coming soon.... The sample looks nice, as does your laceweight yarn but I'm not sure about 'hairy' lace...

one of my favorite projects ever was a square shawl (http://knitspot.com/?p=44) i knit from handspun shetland (from a friend's flock) in shades of gray . . i love that piece to death, and i want to make another. the hairiness softens the look of the fabric and makes the shawl really appealing to the eye.

I'm kind of new to the fleece from the real sheep thing - that's wonderful to get the photo w. the fiber! It's beautiful.

that makes me laugh! he looks so cute! you need some kinda galactic lace for a roger, houston shawl :0)

I love the way the swatch came out, but I do understand your trepidation over spinning all that cream laceweight.

I think your lace weight is really beautiful and your swatch looks terrific. Roger gave his all it would appear :-) Take your time spinning Roger. After all, there is no time limit and you can always keep knitting other things in between. I'm still making edging points of Princess from time to time but it feels endless.

Roger is a fine looking sheep, and I expect whatever you end up spinning it'll be fine looking too! (I know nothing about spinning - but the laceweight option does seem a challenge!!)

I like Roger's hairyness (in the swatch, too) : ) (He's one handsome guy) Perhaps you can spin this up a little at a time?

Oh, look at that sweet sheepy face! :-) No wonder you bought the wool... who could walk away from a face like that? ;-) And I like the slightly rustic yarn you're making. It has character. Like Roger. ;-)
