South Seas Stole

Something finished, finally: the South Seas Stole by Laura Patterson. Knit with Heirloom Knitting merino lace yarn on 2.75mm needles. Embellished with size 8/0 silver-lined glass beads from the local bead store.

Even the knitted-on edging was enjoyable with this--I think beads add greatly to the fun. :)

Since I used a finer-than-laceweight yarn, the stole is much shorter than specified in the pattern--about 60 inches rather than 72. I could have added more pattern repeats in any of the lace sections, but I'm just too lazy, I guess.
Now, back to Princess knitting....

And she does it again! This is beautiful. The photography is beautiful. The colour is beautiful. I have never looked twice at this pattern before I saw this one.

Oh Alice! It's so gorgeous - I especially love the dots in the middle of the circles - they remind me of the ends of peacock feathers. I love the color too! xoxox

Lazy is not the first word that pops to my mind thinking about your projects, actually, but maybe you where thinking about lacy ;)
I agree with Ailsa, everything here is beautiful, you really top your self every time.

What beautiful lace! And the beads are great too. Beaded lace is something I still haven't yet tried, but now I must! Thanks for the inspiration.

Uh, yeah, you're lazy. Right! Dude, that stole is seriously beautiful. Nice color you chose.

It seems I only ever leave a comment when you finish something, which is sad because I so enjoy seeing all your in-progress shots and reading your thoughts on the process.
Alas, I've done it again leaving a comment on a FO post, but that stole is very beautiful.

After all that work, you call yourself lazy? Ai!
It's simply stunning. The beads are such a glamorous touch. I love it!

OMG!!! My jaw dropped to the ground when I saw this! I love the colour, love the pattern! Where do you find the time? You must knit in your sleep! :-) Sigh.... I think I just added another project to my already too long wish list! That blue is absolutely stunning!

That is gorgeous! I love the color and the addition of the beads is perfection!

ditto for everything that everyone has said. it's supurbly lovely.

This is SO lovely! Maybe my new favorite of your projects. And it looks like there must never have been a dull moment working on it, with the frequent pattern changes (and each one special--the only stitch I can recognize is the seafoam one. Very cool!)

Oh! Miss Alice Faye, this is just perfectly gorgeous. I love to see your work. (That sounds too gushy, but it too lovely not to gush.)

It sparkles! Beautiful work, Miss Alice.

Beautiful! The beads are perfect—catching the light but not competing with the pattern. And it looks like it barely weighs a thing.
Posted by: bewilderbeast at March 13, 2008 03:16 PM
Really, really, beautiful! There is always a audible wow! when I see one of your finished shawls - always wonderfully complex stitches, gorgeous photography and such great blocking.
Posted by: Terry at March 16, 2008 08:27 AM
WoW1! this is gorgeous! Great idea with the beads - got to look into my planned lace project and check if I can incorporate beads somewhere ;o)
Love the colour. Stunning job!

OMG! I love everything about this shawl. Absolutely spectacular!
Posted by: Amanda at March 19, 2008 10:29 AM
That is absolutely exquisite!
Posted by: Kathleen at March 24, 2008 06:06 PM
Oh yes!! **Applause**
I wish I could master the knit-on border. I'm just dead in the water on the current shawl--combination of provisional cast-on, Kidsilk Haze, and the concept of the unknown has me scared. Seeing this gives me hope.
