Feathery

Thanks to the three-day weekend bonus knitting time, I completed the Princess border charts. Now for six rows of plain knitting (ew) and the insertion before figuring out the best way to hold all those live stitches while knitting the center.

The South Seas stole is shaping up to be a lot of fun. The beads are nice and shiny, which pleases both me and the little magpie who lives inside me.
This freewheeling knitting pace will surely slow a bit since my spring semester classes start tonight. I've been in denial.

Oh the Princess is exquisite in its detail. I mourn the loss of your knitting time.

Oh how gorgeous! Both of them!
And I second the loss of knitting time...but perhaps you won't get too much homework :)

Booooooo to homework and studying! (I suddenly feel 13 again!)
Both projects are looking amazing.

how beautiful, it is coming on so well. i have decided to postpone my princess, to knit Sharon Miller's Nesting Shawl for my next grandchild to be - but i shall enjoy it all the more, i am sure.
keep up the good work! ;)

wow, that is amazing alice. i love how that some of the pendant motifs look like long pine cones, both long and short . . . hmmm

Beautiful! Makes me want to knit more and more on mine. As to how to hold the stitches while you knit the center. I think I have a plan that will work. When you get to that point knit 4-6 rows in plain knit in a contrasting slippery yarn making sure that the bumps from the shawls last row are on the top so you can easily see them when you have to pick them up on the way back of each row. Just pick and join, pick and join. When you are finished with the center, very carefully cut the contrast yarn. This way there is no way you will loose a stitch or miss one for that matter. It is almost as picking up stitches from a provisional cast on but leaving the provisional co in there until the end. Clear as mud?

words fail me... it's stunningly beautiful I will be badgering you with questions when I start mine...

Alas for gainful employment but it does keep us in yarn.
And wow. Your Princess shawl is just breathtaking!

I don't think I have seen anyone get this far on the Princess, though Ravelry might set me straight on that. It's truly an amazing project, and I can't express my admiration (and astonishment at your stamina) strongly enough!

All I can say is WOW! It's beautiful. You are setting quite the pace.

they're both beautiful Alice, and I completely understand the night classes digging into knitting time...mine start back up next Tuesday. I've been on a finishing of UFO jag to get some projects cleaned up before it starts all over again...
By the way, are you hooking the beads in or did you string them in the SSS?

Your knitting is fantastic as usual. Really breathtaking. It really is too bad that study/work cut into knitting time but at least you can look at your work so far with satisfaction. I guess these pictures will have to hold us for awhile :-)

Not only are you a great knitter (of lace) but you make the most admireable photo's that makes me want MORE time in the day.
Also always combining the most beautiful colours to the patterns.
You're my favorite lace knitter, I learn a lot.
