Week 5

border%20row%2040%20%281%29.jpg

I finished row 42 of the border last night--slow going, as each row takes about 35-40 minutes. But they're 35-40 very enjoyable minutes. :)

It's taken me about a month to get this far--when I did some rough calculations a few weeks ago, I think I determined that it will take me until sometime in January or early February to complete the border. Unless other projects start competing for my attention in the meantime, which is always a danger.

Fortunately, I'm not much of a holiday gift knitter, so no December lace knitting slowdowns for me. The problem will be lugging the two-pound cone of yarn around with me when flying home for the holidays....

That is unbelievably gorgeous!!! As for the two pound yarn cone, just don't take clothes home. Priorities, you know!

Lovely! 2 lb cone! That is a huge one to haul around.

Considering how long it's taking you to knit this and considering how much faster you are at lace, I really think I need to buy this pattern. It would provide me with a weeks and weeks of lace knitting entertainment. I might just add that plug in a little note on my Christmas wish list. ;-) BTW, it looks gorgeous.

It is delightful to see this lovely project becoming reality...and those patterns are so extraordinary, the knitters who came up with them in the past are real artists.

It's just lovely. Like a puff of sky captured in lace.

Do you position your cone so that the yarn unreels from the side rather than from the top? (Does that question make sense?) And of course it's lovely -- Alice is knitting it! :)

We are all admiring your tenacity. And, of course, as you are way ahead of most of us, you get to find all the mistakes and stuff :)

So lovely to look at! I have the pattern, but if it is taking YOU this long to knit, perhaps my current life expectancy is too short. :-) The ice blue is just stunning.

so beautiful!

it just gets better and better... it's lovely and I do think the colour is stunning I do hope you're keeping this one for yourself?

You are doing a wonderful job with you knitting. The shawl is amazing! I'm glad to hear that the border is enjoyable to knit. Something to look foward to. Lugging around a heavy cone of yarn is awkward but worth it! Great pictures as usual :-)

Oh, that is stunning!!! I'm really hoping I get that pattern for Christmas. I put out plenty of hints. I absolutely love the color of your yarn, too.

Delicious. Just delicious.

Well, two pounds isn't very much! Get yourself a bowling ball bag to carry it in....:-D Whatever you do, don't ever check your knitting through in baggage. I stuffed an expensive skein of silk and a gift box of antique hankies in my suitcase. Both were missing when I picked up my bag!

Until I saw the pictures in this post I've had no desire at all to tackle the Princess....but it is looking sooooo beautiful that I am beginning to waver.
