Amedro revisited

cobwebwrapborder.jpg

First of all, thank you for your kind comments on my Spring Shawl. If I seemed rude in not responding directly, I can only offer the excuse that either the blog or my email was misbehaving last week and not forwarding me the comments. Theirs is not always a harmonious relationship, MUCH to my chagrin.

Anyway, above is my most recently started lace project. Eventually it will look something like this:

cobwebmed.jpg

The Cobweb Wrap, designed by Gladys Amedro (under the name Gemma Ord) for Jamieson and Smith. A similar project appears in her book Shetland Lace. I first saw this wrap on the blog of the inimitable Jean Miles, who has knit three versions of it--you can read about them here.

I'm using Heirloom Knitting's Merino Lace, which I find soft and delightful. The lovely person I bought the yarn from thought otherwise, however, so I'd be interested in hearing the opinions of others who have used this yarn.

I've also put some quality time in on the Palatine. It never seems to get much bigger, though. Sigh.

Job and school are both going well. I'm only overwhelmed about 80% of the time....

You take the best pictures of your lace-in-progress. :)

This is going to be another great work. I have used the Heirloom Merino for a Kimono shawl and absolutely loved it. Both knitting it and the endresult.

This is Lovely Person...you have converted that scratchy stuff into a work of art, as usual. I am glad you are enjoying working with it!

I'm full of enthusiasm for Heirloom's Merino Lace. I even started the Princess in it, and was beginning to grasp that it was too big and I'd have to rethink the pattern, when Sharon herself rang up (having been alerted by my Blog) and said no, no, and switched me to the Gossamer Merino in which it's being done. Thank goodness. But my sister's Amedro-type shawl was done in Merino Lace, and I loved every moment.

I'm knitting my Spring Shawl in HK Merino Lace and I'm loving it. It certainly is soft after knitting two shawls in J&S Cobweb! My Spring Shawl is going to be the same color as your Spring Shawl, which is lovely BTW.

Amedro is looking delightful! And it sounds like your feelings for the Palantine are similar to mine about the Forest Path Stole. Kudos for working on it at all.

I think your Amedro is lovely! I've never worked with that yarn but it does look nice. I'm also impressed you can knit as much as you do considering all your other commitments! Beautiful as usual.

That's just beautiful! If I may ask, what kind of knitting needles do you use to produce such marvelous lace?

Your lace work is stunningly beautiful! I can't wait to see more of it as I'm deeply impressed here!

It is a beauty! Is there grafting involved in this one? It is a Faroese shaw. Very pretty.
