Swarm

As it grows, this shawl is increasingly difficult to pin out for photography without risking flying stitch catastrophe. So I hope you will bear with my rather inelegant and bunched-up displays of knitting in the meantime. I'm now about halfway through the bee in field portion of the shawl (petite size). The large bees are a bit acrobatic in execution, with lots of backward-loop casting on.

The Spring Shawl edging is creep creep creeping along--I'm over halfway through the top edging and have about 27 more repeats to go. If discipline prevails, I could finish...well, soon. I think I can manage to complete both of these projects before classes start again on September 4 and the knitting has to compete with the studying during my evenings and weekends. (The knitting wins out more often than it should, probably.)
Speaking of September 4...that's the day I start my New Job. (!!!) A library job, no less--which may make the whole library school thing seem a bit more relevant to my actual life. Assuming my brain survives the akwardness and tedium of the last week and a half of the current job....

Congrats on the new job! And the lace is lovely, as usual. :)

My goodness, it's amazing how exquisite that pattern looks where it's aired out via thinner yarn. I bought the pattern, by thought it looked a bit thick,, if you know what I mean.
And of course, your knittiing shows off the yarn perfectly. Or is it the other way around? :)

The more I look at it the more I like it. But I shall not cast on until I finish the stuff I have going.

Congratulations on the new job! As for the Bee Fields, the one thing I do not like about it is all the backward-loop cast ons. But I am getting used to them and the picot effect on the edging is lovely. Watching your progress is spurring me on as your shawl is beautiful as well as inspiring!

Dear missalicefaye,
I am grateful you have taken the time and effort to pin out your lace for us all to see. It is fantastic as usual. Good to know I would have to do the "limbo" if I want to knit this one. I hope the new job is more fun than this one is. I think the knitting would win most of the time with me too!

it's looking stunning I have to say and your bees are beautiful..... the ayrn seems a perfect balance for the shawl... how different in weight/yardage is it from the stated yarn?
Congratulations on your new job :)

Knitting win out over studying? I know not what you mean!!!
I have a correspondence course that is heading into a decade because of knitting.
The bee's are stunning, isn't all that red wonderful though, it keeps reminding me that I really want to knit Sharon Millers Edwardian stole.

May your new job be the start of a wonderful career! Your lace knitting technique just takes my breath away. My "Bee Fields" uses the thicker laceweight that the pattern calls for, and it's looking good, but the thicker yarn is of course more forgiving of slight differences in stitch tension.
