Bee Fields

Bee Fields, by Anne Hanson.

I knit the petite size with Sheldridge Farm Soft Touch Lace (color: rust) on 3.25mm needles. Since I went down a couple of needle sizes, the finished shawl is not quite as wide as specified in the pattern (approximately 62" instead of 72"). It's pretty close to the same length at the center, though.

I used the bind-off method described by Anne here and ended up with a sufficiently stretchy edge. I did, however, rediscover the fact that pinning out scallops is not my favorite activity. They're awfully pretty, though.

It's extremely delicately beautiful! The rust looks very red on my monitor, which makes me think that a cherry red bee field might be nice, too.

It's beautiful!! The reddish rust is such a great color for a really neat pattern.

Wow! That is fantastic. And I can't believe how quickly you finished the entire shawl. Now I have to marvel at BOTH your speed and your technical mastery!

Beautiful colour choice and as always beautifully executed. What else can I say.

diggin' the red. very pretty edging on this one!

It's gorgeous!

It's just Beautiful!!! That color is breathtaking, too.

That's gorgeous! The bee motif is used in the Sarcelle shawl which I made earlier this year - and I'm pleased to hear I'm not alone in finding the cast on rows a little clumsy. I liked them though because they tidied up all of those loose droppe stitches.

Wow, it looks absolutely wonderful! Congratulations!

Oh, it is marvelous! And probably a walk in the park to you, after some of the lace you've done. ;-) I love the color, and it looks like the petite size is fine for an averaged-statured knitter, considering that you went down a few needle sizes... I was planning to do the large, but I might just go with the smaller size after seeing yours.

Holy Batman, that was fast! I'm eatin' your dust! :-D What a gorgeous creation. Now I want to chuck my other projects to the wind and concentrate solely on the Bee Fields. Thanks for the inspiration. :-)

you are swarmed by beautiful bees with narry a sting in sight. that's nature at it's best! makes me think you should keep a bee colony and make honey. such a lovely shawl!

Posted by: jessica at August 27, 2007 05:38 PM

It's fabulous and I love your color choice. I'm curious: how would you rate the difficulty level for this shawl?

Posted by: Francesca at August 27, 2007 07:31 PM

Oh, I love it in that color! I'm checking out everyone's shawls and stoles to help me decide what color to make it in.

Stunning as always Miss Alice, and very quickly done. I look forward to seeing you knit up the Princess, what are we thinking here, a month? two months tops? LOL. I know it is an unrealistic goal but seriously you are getting these shawls pumped out quickly. K
