The thing about nupps

Lace knitting has been sadly missing around the blog lately (with the Unst edging, it's the same thing day after day after day....). So I give you my progress on the Swallowtail Shawl--it's a pretty quick one. Once you make peace with those pesky nupps in the lily of the valley border.

By the way, I think I can now say with some authority that nupps and Addis don't mix. Bamboo needles with relatively sharp tips have saved my sanity/prevented me from throwing this project across the room in a rage.

i'm getting into lace knitting (trying anyway) - how much time would you say it takes to knit a typical shawl? i know we're not in it for speed, but just curious. i really love your color choice here by the way.

I turn my face resolutely away from anything with nupps, even though they're lovely. I just don't have the patience for that level of fiddly-ness. And I know there are shortcuts and techniques to make them easier. I'd just rather spend my time doing other things.

I don't know what nupps are yet.

That shawl is really very pretty! I have't done nupps yet but I have that pattern and it's on my "list" of things to knit. I'm still too caught up in holiday baking to knit right now. I'm baking and reading my back-log of books. Have a wonderful holiday season!

Oh pretty! I think it's awesome that you think of that as a quick knit. I guess it is really quick compared to the Unst stole and the quilt!
