25 minutes

That's how long it takes me to complete one edging repeat on the Unst stole.

Approximate total time spent on edging so far: 56.25 hours

Estimated time left: 8.33 hours

Perhaps by the end of the week?

Nupps are pretty, but I don't think I'll be going there again anytime soon.

Knit and blocked in one week. As compared to the Unst stole, which I've been working on since, um, March. (We're finally in the Unst home stretch! About 1/3 through with the final side of the edging. It's a very long side, though...)

The thing about nupps

swallowtail%20progress.jpg

Lace knitting has been sadly missing around the blog lately (with the Unst edging, it's the same thing day after day after day....). So I give you my progress on the Swallowtail Shawl--it's a pretty quick one. Once you make peace with those pesky nupps in the lily of the valley border.

By the way, I think I can now say with some authority that nupps and Addis don't mix. Bamboo needles with relatively sharp tips have saved my sanity/prevented me from throwing this project across the room in a rage.

Mouse and star

Hand pieced, 29 pieces, inset seams galore! These are the ones I like best, I think. They're kind of like piecing puzzles. Also, I don't number my pieces before I cut them out (except for the border triangles!), so sometimes it really is a puzzle trying to figure out which piece goes where. :)

Hand pieced, 25 pieces. Pretty straighforward.

Over halfway through the Unst edging now. For a bit of relief, I've been working on a Swallowtail shawl from the Fall '06 Interweave Knits for my mum. Things go faster on size 4 needles, eh?
