Fluff
One of the best things about lace is knowing that this bit of fluff:

will one day grow up to look like this:

Incidentally, as my two-hour-plus experience with winding the wool for this stole wasn't exactly a deep, fulfilling experience, I've finally procured my own wool winder.

The swift is on its way. Finally, I've progressed to 19th century knitting technology.

Jeez, even I have one of those things! (admittedly, I have far more knitting paraphenalia than my meager skill belies, as I've inherited it all, including many 1940's and 50's vogue knitting magazines, from my grandmother) mine is a saucy bright orange! Lovely fluff, btw.

What pattern are you using? It looks like the Sampler Stole I am making! :)

What are the odds that I would be obsessed with Yarn Harlot, have a college roommate who spins her own wool, and find out that you are doing similar things? A hail storm sent me to Flickr to see photos of some damage and "voila" here you are as well. I'd love to hear from you sometime. -Kate

I just stumbled over your sight looking for stitching ideas, (a little artists block). Just want to say I love your stitching of the woman and the cat. Do you sell things?
Also wierd but I used to go to scooter rally's. I had an 1958 allstate.

I'm so impressed with your lace knitting, all of it. I especially like the photo showing from fluff to elegant lace.. I came here via your post on laceknitters.
